Those darn light up character shoes....

To put it plainly; I hate these shoes! Not neccessairly the one's above but you get what I'm saying right? My son on the other hand loves to see them on other kids and I'm sure he'd be happy if I got him a pair. Well I was surfing the net recently and came across a few that I think we both would like.

Let me just say that he absolutely loves Dr. Seuss and these he'd go ga ga over:

Here are a few more that I like:

They even have them in adult sizes. :-)

I may get him a pair of the light up ones just to brighten his day little more but I'm still going to buy the chuck taylor's also! lol

Product Review: Herbal Essences Hydralicious Self-Targeting Conditioner

This stuff is the bomb dot com!!! I liked this product when I was texlaxed and while I was transitioning but now I absolutely love Herbal Essences Hydralicious Self-Targeting Conditioner! I got 2 of these at CVS for about $5.99.This product is probably the best or one of the best cheapie conditioners I've ever used. It's thick, creamy consistency is wonderful. It leaves my hair very soft, moisturized and detangled. The smell is light, sweet, slightly fruity and tropical.  This will definitely be a summer staple.

Here is a picture of how my banana pudding turned out. We made a huge bowl full:

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! ALTHOUGH; I really don't think the half a cup of sugar is needed...it just seems a bit to sweet to me but still very good.

Next time I'll try Monique's Recipe from Yes, Divas can cook. She uses sour cream in her recipe....sounds interesting. Here is the link if you want to try it. http://divascancook.com/2012/01/easy-creamy-banana-pudding-recipe.html

Memorial Day weekend....Ahhh the unofficial start to summer!!!

I love the summer time! It reminds me of the year round warm weather of home. I love the smell of barbeques, beaches and chlorine pools. This post will be a kick off to our summer season of braidouts, twistouts, braids, updo's, co washing and much more! I will also be blogging about the importance of protecting your tresses while swimming and being in the sun. We will talk about pedicures, nail polish, staying hydrated  and moisturized. I'll be posting a few of my favorite summer recipes such as banana pudding, turkey/cheese dip, and blackberry cobbler just to name a few. I'll also be sharing whether or not I'm sticking to my new year's resolutions.I'm excited; how about you?

Thank you to all of the men and women who have proudly served our country!!

I'm ready for a weave!

I'm ready for a weave; a sew-in weave to be specific. I want a bob. I've also been looking at quick weaves and learning about the different types of hair that I can choose from. .  http://www.thegrio.com/opinion/weaves-101-ten-tips-your-stylist-wont-tell-you.php

http://www.loveyourtresses.com/2012/04/weave-101-wearing-weave-guide-to.html
Here is the style that I have in mind (These are not my pictures; I found them on www.google.com):
This will be a great way for me to wear a protective style while I continue to grow out my fro. I have found 3 places online where I can purchase good quality hair. I am also going to look for hair locally as well and the biggest thing that I have to research is finding a good quality stylist that specializes in weaves but also believes in maintaining the health of your hair underneath. I will keep you all posted and once my hair is done; I will write a review of my experience before and after. Until the next blog..... Toodles, Annitra01

Frugal Finds: Online printable flashcards and other activities

My son will be starting kindergarten next year and since he does not attend daycare/pre-k at the moment; I have decided to kick it up a notch or two with teaching him new things. *Sidenote; I registered him for pre-k earlier this week and fingers crossed he will be accepted for the Fall 2012 term.* In my quest of finding fun things for him to do; I found an excellent website for pre kindergarten through sixth grade. They have everything from flashcards to writing activities to nursery rhymes and spelling games. They even have printable sheets to practice scissor skills, shapes and other fine motor skills and critical thinking skills. It is a wonderful website that I can see us utilizing throughout grade school. The website is called TLS Books.com and can be found at http://www.tlsbooks.com/ If you have children or know of children that can benefit from this site; please check it out.

If you do not have a printer; you can also find great flashcards at Dollar General.

An exerpt from Sarah D. Henson's Blog

I Turned My Back On You

On April 3, 2012, in God, Life, by sarahdhenson

God, I’m thankful for the time where I felt the most broken. When the tears never stopped flowing, neither did Your grace. When my heart wouldn’t stop aching, Your love never stopped growing. When trouble surrounded me, mercy protected me. I know I went too far, I know I lost focus on You but You restored me anyway…You covered me anyway… I have to realize when I’m in over my head, heed to Your warnings.. More importantly, I have to understand that You never turned Your back on me, I turned my back on You..

I hope that this blog blesses someone just as it has blessed me today.

I'm not your superwoman!

I feel like today's post is a therapy session and I'm sitting on my own couch. I received some devastating news today and actually broke down at work. I tried to contain my tears as I bolted out of the office and headed towards the bathroom but I was stopped by Senior Management. He took one look at me and said come on; come to my office. I explained to him the situation and he then went and got my immediate supervisor. My immediate supervisor came in and we talked. We agreed that I needed to take a 2 hour lunch. My friend/co worker then came in to comfort me. After talking to her I felt so much better. It felt like a weight was lifted off of me. I said all that to say this....I can't be superwoman everyday and I have to stop bottling things up inside because it's not healthy. This entire blog centers around being healthy and a healthy state of mind is very important. It's just very hard for me to be trusting and vent or get things off my chest. I am normally the one that people come to and I am not use to being the vulnerable one. I'm used to being the strong one; the one to give advice; the one to wipe away the tears but today I had to let go and the tears just flowed... Also I don't want to be that person that everybody feels sorry for and I don't want to be viewed as a complainer because I'm not. It just has been a number of things coming at me here and there since October 2011 and even before that really.  I have years of things that I am holding and I have to let it go! I recently purchased TD Jakes book called Let it Go. I think that I am ready to crack it open and read it. At the end of the day I have to realize that the world has not ended and a death certificate has not been signed. Everything will be ok and you have to remain optimistic. LOL I took those words from my good friend AMP. It feels so good having friends that you can talk to and TsmallRob and AMP were really there for me today.  Overall I work with a great group of people and so many expressed their concern for me today. I reassurred them all that I will be ok and that things will be alright. When I'm ready to open up a little more; I'll blog about it right here. Until then, please keep me and my family in your prayers.

Natural Sock Bun

The video below explains how to make a sock bun at home using socks : ) You can also purchase a donut bun at most beauty supply stores. I'm an avid DIY'er so I made mine.

I followed this video for putting my hair into a sock bun. Instead of using a silk tie; I cut one of my skinny elastic headbands and used it the same way she did in this video.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qefvMIkMqZ8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Here are my results:

This is a easy, quick protective style. Last week I did two french braids and tucked them in the back with a bobby pin. I'll wear it again next week and hopefully snap some pics for you.

Until the next time....

Disclaimer:

I am not an expert in haircare/beauty and etc. I simply blog about what works for ME and what I like or dislike. Also I DO NOT NORMALLY measure when I cook. I AM an expert in Business as I have mastered that field but I will not be giving advice on personal business unless it is general info such as how to improve your credit. That answer is to simply pay your bills on time and do not over spend. Always buy what you can pay back... lol. I do not claim any responsibility for the results you've obtained from reading suggestions on my blog.
