The Ateya Regimen (Which consists of Aphogee products for strength and elasticity)

The Ateya Regimen (Which consists of Aphogee products for strength and elasticity) ***LOVE IT***

Here is another regimen/challenge by Kena Brewer inspired by Ateya from Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/Ateyaaa?blend=1&ob=4

The challenge goes as follows:
Im so impressed with how Ateya cares for her hair and her regimen is very healthy. The only thing I would tweak is the use of a flat iron every single time. I prefer to alternate between rollersets and flat iron. If you shampoo biweekly the flat iron method is fine.

It's basically what a healthy hair stylist follows under normal circumstances!!

Im gonna make this a 12 week challenge because thats usually how long it takes to completely change the condition of your hair.

Products needed for this challenge:
**Aphoghee for damaged hair shampoo or Kenra platinum shampoo for your hair type.
**Kenra Moisturizing conditioner or Aphoghee conditioner
**Aphoghee 2min. reconstructor or Mizani Fulfyll (same ingredients in both)
**Aphoghee 2step protein treatment and balancing moisturizer (available in single use packets)
**Chi silk Infusion,Biosilk, or Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum (only use the paul mitchell if your hair is thick)
**Foam wrap of your choice (I prefer Nairobi or Salon Exclusives Milk foam)
**Aphoghee Green Tea Reconstructing Leave In spray or cream leave in if your hair is really thick
**Hairdress of your choice( I prefer Mizani Coconut Souffle')

For those who arent familiar with her regimen listed below are the steps.

Weekly or biweekly :(whichever works best for you)

-shampoo hair twice
-deep condition for 20-45 min. under heat (natural hair 1hr. adding coconut oil)
-treat with 2min recon. for 5min no heat
-spray with leave in and comb with wide tooth comb
-mix in your hand : dime of serum, few pumps of foam
rub into hair focusing on the ends
-comb hair down with a wide tooth comb in the way you want it to lay or proceed with rollersetting
-if flat ironing: dry hair until about 70% dry then blow the rest dry. Spray on heat protectant and proceed with flat ironing.

**** On the week before you relax, do the 2step protein treatment after the shampoo. Then proceed deep condition and the rest of the steps. Protein should not be done more than twice during this challenge. It can be done the 6th and 12th week if you dont plan on relaxing during the 12 weeks. If you do plan on relaxing it should only be done the week before your relaxer.

**** Natural Hair ladies dont do the protein treatments. Instead do deep conditioning like you would do a relaxer . Use a relaxer brush to get it on all the hair. Rub it in good and sit under dryer for about an hour.

Product Review: Blue Goo Cracked Heel Foot Softener

Product Description
Blue Goo Cracked Heel Foot Softener soothes and smoothes your feet and helps soften calluses, corns, and rough dry skin. With key ingredients like emu oil and beeswax, this proven formula will help make your feet happy and healthy.

Ok, so in keeping my skin nice and smooth during the colder months; I ran across Blue Goo Cracked Heel Foot Softener. I've actually had this little 0.5 oz product for about 2 years and have used it here and there. More recently I have been using it on the heels of my feet during the day for added softness and I like it a lot. A little goes a long way and for $2.00 at walmart; it more than pays for itself over time and prolongs my at home pedicures.

Youtuber Napngo aka Chi-Chi

I sooooo want this style. I'm going to get some synthetic hair and try this as soon as possible. This will work as a wonderful protective style for the winter and to cover my braids once they get fuzzy.

Winter Moisture Rich Regimen

During the colder months my hair would always seem drier than normal and since going natural; it definitely is a bit drier. Well thank God for Kena Brewer. She is a hairstylist out of Charlotte, North Carolina and she came up with the regmimen below for cold weather. I have used it for the last 2 or 3 winters and it really worked well for me. This year will be a little different only because I am natural and I'm very curious about how my hair will react to this regimen. What I will mainly be focusing on with this regimen is the products. I will not be adding direct heat to my hair and I will not sit under the dryer with the conditioner/raw egg mixture. I will still stay in protective styles and from experience the egg cooks in the hair if you sit under the dryer. The regimen is as follows:

Winter Moisture Rich Regimen
**The key to Moisture Rich hair is ingredients.**

**You will need products high in fatty oils like cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alchohol, omega 3, omega 6, jojoba oil, olive oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, wheat germ oil, and lauryl alcohol.
You need to eat lots of veggies, nuts, grains and seeds.

**Look for sulfate free shampoos

The rules to this regi:
No manipulation heat for weeks 1-6 (manipulation heat is blowdryer, flat irons, curlers, or anything where the heat directly touches your hair)
One form of manipulation heat for weeks 7-13 (if you blow dry, you cant flat iron. If you want to flat iron, then you should dry under a hooded dryer. )
**Use lacio, lacio leave in before styling each time

Of course this is a 13 week regi because you know that's how i do. But you will see results after 2 weeks.

Week 1: Relaxer and deep Trim. Or if you are natural or not in need of a relaxer
shampoo with a clarifying shampoo; deep condish for 30min.; and roller
style. For a flat style saran wrap

Hot Oil Treatment
Week 2: Apply oil mixture to hair (I mix olive, sunflower, and safflower oil) and
massage into scalp for about 3 minutes. Then put on a plastic cap and
sit under hooded dryer for 10min. Shampoo with a clarifying shampoo
to remove all oil. Follow with a sulfate free moisture shampoo (I like
Kenra) and then deep condish with a conditioner high in fatty oils
(I like Dominican conditioners with cinnamon) make sure they are pure
and say on the bottle made in the dominican republic

Intense Moisture Honey and Coconut Treatment
Week 3: Make a mixture as follows: 2cups of any condish you like; 1 cup of
honey; 1/4 cup of organic virgin coconut oil. Mix really good with a
spatula and let sit while you shampoo your hair with a sulfate free
Apply the Honey/Coconut treatment to hair and dc under dryer for
about 10 minutes. Then dc air for about 15 minutes. Rinse really really
well to get honey out. I usually shampoo again with sulfate free to
remove residue. The effects of the conditioning will not be washed
away because it has penetrated into the cuticle layer which shampoo
alone cannot undo.

Protein Conditioner Treatment
Week 4: Shampoo with sulfate free shampoo; then add an egg to 2 cups of your
regular conditioner. ( I add it to Dominican conditioner) and apply to
hair being sure to reach ends. Sit under hooded dryer for 15 min. and
rinse well without manipulating. Then shampoo with conditioning
shampoo and deep condish with dominican condish for 35min.

Hot Oil Treatment
Week 5: Same as week 2

Intense Moisture Honey and Coconut Treatment
Week 6: Same as week 3

Stimulating Treatment
Week 7: Shampoo with a stimulating shampoo (minty smell). Deep condish for 20
min with a stimulating condish ( I like Syntonics Intense Therapy) it will
have a minty smell as well.

Protein Condish
Week 8: Same as week 4

Hot Oil Treatment
Week 9: Same as week 2

Intense Moisture Honey and Coconut Treatment
Week 10: Same as week 3

Stimulating Treatment
Week 11: Same as week 7

Protein Condish
Week 12: Same as week 4

Hot Oil and Deep Condish
Week 13: Same as week 2

For daily maintenance you can wrap or pincurl your hair. You can add creme hairdress to your scalp before you wrap it (twice a week) to distribute the moisture to the hair shaft.
Put a little serum on your ends before going out in the cold to seal them.

Day 15: 30 Day Water Challenge/Journaling update

Still hanging in there. I am thinking about starting a new 30 day water challenge once this one is over. I really want this to become second nature for me. I am drinking water but some days I am not drinking the full 64 ounces. Ok I lied; a lot of days I have not met the 64 ounce minimum which is why I will be extending this challenge. I really think increasing my water intake is going to aid in me losing a lot of this extra weight that I have on me. My goal by December 31st is to be 30 pounds down for 2011 and right now I am hovering over a 20-24 pound weight loss.

Journal Update-I have been faithfully writing down what I eat everyday since "BeReal" gave me a journal. In looking over my journal; I still need to incorporate healthy snacks so that I can meet my quota of eating 6 times per day and of course I need to increase my water intake. Overall I have been eating pretty healthy. I'm going to weigh myself tonight so that I can see if I have dropped anymore pounds. Wish me luck!!!

DID YOU KNOW : According to the Calorie Control Council, the average person will consume 4500 calories and 229 grams of fat on Thanksgiving Day.

So what are you cooking/eating?

My Facial Regimen

Below is my current Facial Regimen. After I use up all of these products; I will be starting the Oil Cleansing Method. These products are wonderful; however I would like to try a more natural approach to cleansing my face. Also I have heard so many rave reviews on the OCM that I want to try it for myself. Now you know that I will be blogging about how my skin looks and feels and I may even take a before and after photo.

The basics of my regimen are to Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize. I alternate a mask with exfoliating.

Cleanse-Vitamin E Cream Cleanser http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/skin-care/face-wash/vitamin-e-cream-cleanser.aspx

Toner- Witch Hazel

Moisturizer- Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream

I also use a cold cream that I bought at dollar general.
(I can't find a link for it.)

Every now and again I may spray my face with Vitamin E Face Mist

Mask- Aloe Protective Restoring Mask

Another mask that I use is Raw Honey

I also love Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask http://www.drugstore.com/queen-helene-mint-julep-masque-mint-julep/qxp79218?catid=169952&fromsrch=queen+helene+julep

Exfoliate- I exfoliate with my brown sugar scrub http://acurlygirlallthedaysofmylife.blogspot.com/2011/11/brown-sugar-body-scrub.html or with my facial brush http://acurlygirlallthedaysofmylife.blogspot.com/2011/11/product-review-olay-professional-pro-x.html using the cleanser above.

Product Review: DG Body Epsom Salt Soaking Solution - Eucalyptus

I wanted to find a cheaper relaxing foot soak that gave me a refreshed feeling like the Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak in the previous post. Well I think that I found it! Dollar General's Epsom Salt Soaking Solution in Eucalyptus. Over the last several months; I have soaked my feet with both products and both are very nice although I can get 6 of Dollar General's Epsom salt Soaking Solution in Eucalyptus and get the same refreshing and relaxing results for the price of one Peppermint reviving foot soak. Can we say frugal finds!!

Product Review: Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak

They Say:
Best if you want to: Pamper yourself with a revitalizing soak with natural effervescent salts to cleanse and a fizzing action that will leave your tired feet feeling cool and refreshed.

Best for: all skin types

How it works:

Community Trade peppermint oil promotes a cooling sensation to leave feet feeling refreshed and helps to combat odor-causing bacteria, while menthol further cools skin to leave it feeling refreshed.

Community Trade cocoa butter is an excellent moisturizer that melts at body temperature.

Effervescent salts help draw out impurities and help refresh the feet.

I say:

This was a very refreshing and relaxing foot soak. I didn't use this product for removing callouses or dead skin cells. This is just what it says it's for, reviving tired feet and it felt great. I have been using this product for a while and would probably repurchase again.

Baked Salmon

In my quest of getting healthier; I am trying to find recipes that are both economical and good! I have decided to cut down/out red meat and replace it with Turkey, chicken and fish. I love salmon. Wild caught alaskan salmon to be exact. Farmed fish provide less usable beneficial omega 3 fats than wild fish. If you want to read more about wild vs farm-raised fish; here is the link: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=96
It can be found at whole foods and even your local grocer.

Here is a quick recipe that I like.

2 cloves garlic, minced
6 tablespoons light olive oil
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
2 (6 ounce) fillets salmon

1.In a medium glass bowl, prepare marinade by mixing garlic, light olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley. Place salmon fillets in a medium glass baking dish, and cover with the marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator about 1 hour, turning occasionally.
2.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
3.Place fillets in aluminum foil, cover with marinade, and seal. Place sealed salmon in the glass dish, and bake 35 to 45 minutes, until easily flaked with a fork.

This goes great with a side salad and baked potato.

Product Review: Banana Brulee Moisturizing Conditioner

This is by far my favorite deep conditioner and I have tried many. I love it's thick consistency. I'm a sucker for thick conditioners. The smell is also very yummy; reminds me of banana pudding. It leaves my hair feeling very soft and moisturized for days after use. Per the directions it is supposed to be applied to wet hair after shampooing but I actually like this conditioner applied to CLEAN, dry hair.

Journaling to Good Health.

My co worker; (We'll call her Be real because she keeps it real) gave me a mini 4 subject notebook from dollar general so that we can write down what we eat. She stressed the importance of journaling. She said that it is helping her tremendously so I said what the heck; why not give it a try. Today will be my first entry and hopefully I'll get to share with you all what I've eaten.
Be Real is running a marathon in March and wants me to be her running partner. The conversation goes as follows:

Be real: Annitra you wanna be my running partner? (Smiling from ear to ear)
Annitra01: WHAT? FOR REAL? Does this body look like it can run?!! ( We laugh)
Be real: Does this body look like it can run?
Annitra01: Yeah better than this one....(Laughs)
Be real: So when we gettin' started?
Annitra01: (side eye)
Be real: (waitin on an answer)
Annitra01: Seriously I would love to train and run in a marathon but I need to lose a ton of weight first and then prepare to walk in a marathon and then prepare to run in one.
Be real: Ok. So when you wanna start? (Laughs) Imma bring you a journal tomorrow so we can write down what we eat.
Annitra01: Ok ( not thinking she was gonna bring it but she did!!!)

So here we go: Journaling to good health and setting goals for future walking and ur um (clears throat)....running!

Day 5: Water Challenge Update.

So I am doing pretty good with this challenge so far. I've kind of tricked myself into getting the 64 ounces that I need per day by drinking out of one cup that holds 3 cups of water. By the end of cup 2 I have already had 48 ounces of water and only need 2 more cups. So far so good. The only thing is frequent bathroom trips. YIKES.

Brown sugar body scrub

Ok so this scrub is both economical and very easy to make. Blend one cup brown sugar and a half cup of olive oil. This scrub can be used as a natural facial scrub, a lip exfoliator and as a body scrub for soft, smooth skin It can even be used on your feet to remove calluses and other rough areas.

P.S. The last few posts have been relatively short because I have been blogging from my phone. I need a new computer cord and I will be ordering one today from www.buy.com They have excellent prices so check them out when you get a chance.

When I was first introduced to green smoothies;I thought boy that looks gross but once I tried them,I fell in love. My favorite green smoothie recipe is as follows: frozen strawberries, mango, peaches and pineapples with a handful of spinach and a splash of almond milk. Sometimes I'll blend in ground flaxseeds. YUMMY!!! You can google a wealth of tasty green smoothie recipes and oh; please also google "green smoothie girl". She's awesome and can also be found on facebook. Toodles, Annitra01

    I officially love hummus.

So,  I tried Hummus the other day for the first time and it was great. In the past I would never try it simply because of the way it looks. (It looks like newborn baby poo to me). As I was shopping in WalMart for healthy snacks;  I saw a snack with carrots and hummus for dipping for only a dollar so I decided to buy it and it was yummy.OMG the saying is true that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Ok for those of you that would like to make your own recipe (*raises hand*); here is a recipe that I found.

    Prep Time: 10 minutes

    Total Time: 10 minutes

    • 1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
    • 1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
    • 3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
    • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.

Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.

Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

    Storing Hummus

Hummus can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be kept in the freezer for up to one month. Add a little olive oil if it appears to be too dry. http://mideastfood.about.com/od/appetizerssnacks/r/hummusbitahini.htm

    Oh Honey!

Let me just say that I love honey! No not only for eating but for the many benefits it offers. Honey can be used for things such as a natural sweetner to soothing a sore throat. I use raw honey as a facial for acne and as a humectant for my hair. I buy my raw honey from the vitamin shoppe. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=RJ-1029 . To find out the benefits of honey; you can visit http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/ or google "benefits of honey" and you will see an array of articles. I also looked up youtube videos on honey facials and I use this one almost daily: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzXS4mGb0Dc

"Like we always do at this time I go for mine, I gots to shine Now throw your hands up in the sky." http://www.metrolyrics.com/good-life-lyrics-kanye-west.html . LOL my fiance said: "That was wack". Oh well; that's me. Hello world. My name is Annitra01 and I'm a 30something mother of one. I just finished my MBA in March of this year and trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I love to read and write so I decided yesterday that I wanted to start a blog. In the google search engine I put in How to start a blog; and clicked on this link http://www.ehow.com/how_4746975_money-blogging.html.  Over time you may see the style of this blog change as I am trying to figure out the best format and color. My  blog will talk about topics from A to Z. I plan to write daily and no subject will be off limits.  Also if you have any questions, comments or topics that you would like to read or want my opinion on; please feel free to email me or leave a comment. This is my very first blog post so if it seems a little corny; it probably is. : )

I am not an expert in haircare/beauty and etc. I simply blog about what works for ME and what I like or dislike. Also I DO NOT NORMALLY measure when I cook. I AM an expert in Business as I have mastered that field but I will not be giving advice on personal business unless it is general info such as how to improve your credit. That answer is to simply pay your bills on time and do not over spend. Always buy what you can pay back... lol. I do not claim any responsibility for the results you've obtained from reading suggestions on my blog.
