Guess who's back?!'s been a busy year and we are almost into another. I haven't blogged in quite some time due to #1I could not remember my password for several months and did not want to start a new blog, #2 My computer went out and I did not purchase a new one until Mother's Day of this year. (And that computer was recently damaged as well!!! I have to get the screen fixed.) #3 I am on my third cell phone! #4 I cannot find my tablet!  ( I think it's safe to say that I am rough on my electronics!!!!!) #5 Life simply got in the way. Between working 9 plus hours a day, helping my son with sight words and reading and other homework, traveling, moving to a new state and etc; I simply did not have time. Well life is slowing down a little right now so I've decided to start blogging again. My last blog showed me with a blow out. After that I wore wigs and braids for about 9 months. I recently straightened in early September and found that I have a lot of length BUT my ends seemed super thin and see through :(
I've decided to up the anty with protein treatments and my protein/moisture balance and to keep my hair trimmed/dusted between protective styles. Here are a few pictures over the last couple of months and please follow me on Instagram @flgirl4life.

Dominican Blowout!

So I got my hair blown out at a dominican salon and it is so flowy and silky. It was not my original plan though. My original plan was to get big box braids however on the morning of my appointment; my car would not start. It's fine now but I needed a new battery. After taking care of the car; I was on my way to the appointment and the girl sent a text saying that she had to cancel because my late arrival was going to through her back on the next appointment. I understood but I was a little down because I was looking forward to getting braids. I didn't want to do a sew in and I didn't want to wear a wig so I decided to get it blown out and trimmed. I am very pleased with the results and I think that it was a much needed break from protective styling. Here are the pics.

I will keep this for about 2 to 3 weeks and then I will do a hard protein treatment in preparation for box braids. I have reached my goal of APL : ) in the back but the sides are SL. Now I am going for BSL by the end of the year while also trying to grow my sides to APL. My ultimate goal is FULL MBL. Full meaning the sides and back are MBL.

Product Review: Keracare Humecto in the 5lb tub

This product is wonderful. My hair loves it. Keracare Humecto is definitely a keeper. I purchased this 5 lb tub on amazon. I got the big tub because I use a lot of conditioner when I deep condition and this should last me a while. This product totally melted my kinks and single strand knots. I still love my banana brulee by Shescentit and SitriNilla by Hairveda but having this big tub is a winner!!!!!

The Summer Protective Style Series:Braided Mohawk/updo

So I want to introduce my Summer Protective Style Series. This series will be for the end of June through the end of September. I will be uploading all of my summer protective styles. It's hot outside, vacations are being taken, we are going for dips in the pool and the ocean and we need to protect our hair. My first protective style is the Braided mohawk. This style is inspired by pictures that I found on YouTube. Below are the inspiration pics followed by my hair. It doesn't look exactly like the pictures but I like that it's my own unique style hence the word "inspiration".I will probably rock this for about 2 to 3 weeks switching up the style in between. I am already thinking of the next protective style! :-)

The Marley Braid bun with and without a bang.

A cute, simple and cool hairstyle. I found inspiration for these hairstyles by visiting YouTube and typing in "Marley Braid Bun".

Tomorrow I will be getting my hair braided into a Mohawk/updo. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Marley Braid hair mohawk/faux hawk

So to kick off my summer hairstyles; I decided to use Marley Braid hair for my first style. I love this hair because the texture is close to my natural texture and looks great with an updo or bun. Here are the YouTube videos that gave my stylist and I the inspiration to create this 'do.

And here are the pictures of the finished style:
Other styles that I plan to do this summer are:
The Marley Braid Bun
The Sock Bun
Box Braids
Braided Mohawk
Wet and Wavy sew in (one that I can wet/wash/condition)
And if it's not to hot I'll throw in a few cute wigs.

Wiggin' out!

Never in a million years did I think that I would say this but I am really digging wearing wigs!!!!

Here is my latest wig. I forgot the name of it but it came from the Beauty supply store and it was about 40 bucks or less. Here is what it looked like before we cut it...

And here is what it looks like now; 2 weeks later.

I'm sick and this was the best front picture in my opinion. LOL.

I am not an expert in haircare/beauty and etc. I simply blog about what works for ME and what I like or dislike. Also I DO NOT NORMALLY measure when I cook. I AM an expert in Business as I have mastered that field but I will not be giving advice on personal business unless it is general info such as how to improve your credit. That answer is to simply pay your bills on time and do not over spend. Always buy what you can pay back... lol. I do not claim any responsibility for the results you've obtained from reading suggestions on my blog.
